Three Stunning NYC Waterfront Photo Spots

Whenever I ask couples if there’s anything specific they want for their engagement photos, one of the most frequent responses I get is “we would LOVE some photos with the Manhattan skyline!”. The good news is there are plenty of picturesque and accessible spots in NYC that offer perfect Manhattan views.

Here are three locations I recommend:

1. Brooklyn Bridge Park

Spanning over a mile along the Brooklyn waterfront from Brooklyn Heights to DUMBO, Brooklyn Bridge Park offers many unobstructed views of Manhattan’s Financial District and Lower East Side. The park is easily accessible, walkable, and has so much space that you won’t feel like you’re always competing with other couples for a good photo spot. And if you’re looking for those classic NYC photos with the Brooklyn Bridge or Manhattan Bridge in the background, then head over to the DUMBO side of the park to grab those photos.

2. Gantry Plaza State Park

An often overlooked gem located in Long Island City in Queens, Gantry Plaza State Park is a 12-acre waterfront oasis with perfect view of midtown Manhattan. You’ll even be able to see some famous NYC landmarks, like the Empire State Building. But along with Manhattan views, the park is also home to the famous Pepsi Cola sign, and the giant Long Island welcome signs painted on old gantries from the the industrial era of the 1920’s. Both of these make the perfect backdrops for interesting engagement photos. And don’t forgot all of the the different benches, green spaces, platforms, and walkways that add to the park’s charm.

3. Hudson River Waterfront Walkway

Okay, so this one is technically in New Jersey and not NYC, but it’s worth the short PATH train ride to get there! The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in Jersey City is an 18.5 mile long stretch of waterfront overlooking the west side of lower Manhattan. For engagement photos, I recommend the area between Pier A and Pier C, which is less than a 10 minute walk from the Hoboken PATH station. You’ll get wide open views of the skyline, plus several beautiful green spaces and parks at Pier A and Pier C. There’s even a mini beachfront just past Pier C, and a restaurant where you can grab a fun bite to eat after your engagement photoshoot.
